Is it the default AutoRecover location, i.e.
"C:\Documents and Settings\User Name\Application Data\Microsoft\Word" ?
Main Topics
Browse All TopicsI have a user who is experiencing a problem with password protection and word documents. This is the situation.
User Creates a Word document, and add Password protection ("123" as the password) for opening the document ONLY, there is nothing entered for modifying the document. (Tools, Options, Security - Password to open)
The document is saved as test1.doc in C:\Documents and Settings\User\My Documents\test1.doc
User then starts to edit the file, but when he clicks the Save button in Word a password prompt appears.
The message is
Password
Enter password to open file
C:\docs\test1.doc
C:\docs\ is the location for AutoRecover files.
So I enter the password "123" and click ok, and another message pops up
Password
Enter password to open file
C:\...\User\My Documents\test1.doc
I enter the password "123" and it saves the document.
Surley this is not how it should be working?
Is there a way to stop this from happening?
Also there are times where the document does not save at all so amendments made to the document are not saved. This is causing a lot of problems. A prompt reply would be very welcome!!
many thanks in advance

I have also replicated the problem by creating a document on my machine. We have the same file location settings and more than likely a lot of other settings that are identical as a standard build is used.
