Word 2007 slow to switch between open documents

Hello Experts

Just experiencing some major lag time switching between windows of open documents - something like 15 seconds or so.

The doc comes up almost straight away, but you can't select anything for about this time.

The machine is a P4 3Ghz, 1gb ram, running XP Pro SP2 and is installed on a work netwrok.  I have run a couple of registry cleans to no avail.
