Bizarre Word Problem

I have a user with an odd problem in Word 2007. When the user clicks on a row on a table, the background goes blue and as they keep typing, it goes darker.

I've attached a screenshot hoping it helps to explain it.

I've tried removing the .dot file and doing a repair. My next stage was going to be a uninstall/reinstall but wasn't sure if it was something simple that she had switched on and just overlooked
