Hi,
I have windows vista on my laptop where we installed office 2003.
But when I open word file, the cursor is showing in the right side instead of left side and words are starting from right side.
I have tried several ways, but I cannot succeed in this task. Please advise how to change the same to left side

Has it alsways been this way or just recently?
If it is a recent change try going to File>Page Setup>Layout and on that tab make sure "new page" is selected, "whole document" and then click default. That should set everything back the way it was originally.

As per you, we have done

But in the preview it is right aligned.

Also, just out of curiosity, when open Word and then go to Format>Reveal formating (Shift+F1) on the right side...What does it say under language and alignment?

open up C:\Documents and Settings\your username\Application Data\Microsoft\Templates and open Normal.dot
make it to left-to-right and save on your desktop
delete the old Normal.dot and put the new on from the desktop in the above folder
