After Word 2003 Freezes, I lose my edits, where are they?

I'm working on my Word Document and it freezes.  I have to call up the task list and TERMINATE or completely shut down my PC.
When I reboot, I'd like to get my document WITH THE CHANGES, however, when I call up the document, I don't have my changes at all!  Even though I have autosave 10 minutes turned on!
