word locks up 2-5 times when editing

My customer is working in microsoft word 2003 trying to creat and edit files he will be typing and then word locks up

here are the error messages

Worked fine twice then when I tried to close it hung up and I had to CTL ALT DEL to close.
This was the data:

Google showed up things for it like this:

If you log on, when you use the icons at the bottom of the screen, open the 9th from the left (black w/colored dots) - this is a large word document w/pictures.  Then open the 8th from the left (green tree) - a 2-page doc.  Highlight and copy the complete (green tree) text and paste into the other doc on page 2 (there is a gap in the first column where it goes real well).  THEN save and click on the red X at the top of the window to try and close the black icon file - zipideedooda................. hangs up.

OK - I tried it just to make sure, just now and it worked ok!!!!   Didn't last night!!!!!  OK, went back to try again and got Word screen w/out loading, tried to close and got not responding popup - didn't click on any action and finally loaded.  Tried repeat of above with a SAVE prior to closing and it locked up - bottom bar showing "writing" and "save", etc. disappeared, and could not get response from either WORD open icon at the bottom of the screen.

The email and other icons were not affected and worked properly.
