The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

WORD 2003: header and footer automation

Asked by pythonV in Microsoft Word

How can you do the following in Word 2003?

EXAMPLE HEADER:
a) Chapter name to be keyed in manually through VIEW|HEADER & FOOTER. This keyed-in text to be appended with the first instance of text on that page which is formatted as ShadingBlue and FontWhiteArial13.
b) If no such instance, then take the last similarly-formatted text on previous page/s.
c) all this, i.e. the concatenated result of a+b, is to be be left-justified for odd pages.
d) and any gif image is to be right-justified on the same line which probably means that blank spaces in-between have to be counted and a full one-line string of nn cms or inches has to be built to fir into my page-width.
e) 'd' is to be inverted for even pages, i.e. gif on the left and text on the right.

EXAMPLE FOOTER:
Some text to be keyed-in manually here too. This keyed-in text to be appended with:
a) the first instance on that page of OrangeUnderscoring (no actual text) followed by the next line which is always text formatted in ArialBlue
b) if there are more than one instance of such undercoring and text-format, the appended part is to be a concatenation of "from " + firstInstance + "to " + lastInstance (not the second instance as there can be 2+ instances)
c) all this, i.e. a+b, is to be left-justified and appended with the page number which is to be right-justified. This probably means that blank spaces have to be counted  as with header.

I know this macro is a very tall order for just 500 points. Feel free to get as far as you feel is fair   and submit the rest upon my acceptance of the first solution. Once I accept the first solution I will only take a second solution from the same source for fairness sake.

I think this is worth 1000 min and 1500 max points. So feel free to choose in how many parts, 2 or 3, to submit.

Thanks
pythonV
