You can add a UserName field to the template. This will show the name that is set in the User Information tab of the Options dialogue.
There is no simple method to add other versions of the user name.

Templates in Word in Server 2003 System
I work as a system adminisntrator in a school.
I want to make all my users use the same Word template when they log on - irrespective of whether they have logged onto a particular computer or not.
Ideally I want to have their name from Active directory automattically saved in the template so that it appears on all printouts.
Any ideas?

If you want all users to be able to access a particular Word template, you can put on a server, and set all the users' Workgroup templates option to point to its folder.
In the Word application it is at Tools/Options, File location tab.
