Question

Cut Copy Paste Options Greyed out in MS Word 2007???

Asked by: stetlers

Hello, I have 2 users with the same issue.  Their Cut, Copy, Paste option is greyed out when they right click a highlighted field in MS Word 2007.  The ribbon toolbar and keyboard commands(CTRL X,C,V) still work, but when either user right clicks a highlighted section  then Cut, Copy & Paste are greyed out.  I have run a repair & reinstalled MS Office 2007 on their PCs with the same result, and no other MS Office software is having the issue, only MS Word.

I tried to open Word in Safe Mode and all 3 options work...toolbar, keyboard, & the right click.  Another interesting aspect of the issue which I think may be causing it, is they both have PPC E-Tools installed.  The versions are up to date and if I am to open a Word Document from within PPC E-Tools, then all 3 options work like in Safe Mode, but then when I open another document from a local folder on the desktop, only 2 of 3 options work.  I have a strong feeling that this has to do with PPC E-Tools or another Add-In.  Does anyone have any kind of input they can give me to help me out.  It is greatly appreciated...Thanks.

Is the "PPC E-Tools" add on essential?  DO your users use this tool?  If not then you can simply just disable the add-on.

To do that:  click on the office button-->go to WORD OPTIONS (bottom right corner)-->Click on ADD-INS

In the bottom of the window Click the drop down menu under MANAGE and select the Category that this Add-on is located in and select GO and disable or remove the add-on.

Good luck.

I appreciate both of your comments lucas911& jmarti80 but in response to Lucas, I have seen that posting prior to me posting my question up here and it described the troubleshooting I already performed on my own.  I know it is an issue with an Add-In, just not sure which one exactly.  I have tried disabling a couple.

JMarti80 - Unfortunately the users need the PPC E-Tools, and I have tried to disable each one individually to see if which one could be causing the error.  I have tried to mirror the exact add-ins that were present during the safe mode boot too.  I did not try and remove ALL PPC E-Tools at once though.  Perhaps I can try that and maybe have them enable each as they need it.  I will get back to you once I get my hands on the client's machine today.

Again Thank You both for the quick responses.

I have this same issue with PPC E-Tools version 2009.0.21 and Word. Disabling this add-on solves the problem but I would like a fix from Thomson.
