Sorry for the delay in getting back to you.

The window size is maximized when I close the apps.
I've tried closing the apps with both methods: (1) File/Exit (2) The X box at top right
It makes no difference which method I use.

I am not inclined to go this route for two reasons...
(1) This is not a Word issue... As I explained earlier I am having the same problem with Notepad, IE and Excel.
(2) I will lose all other Word settings. Yes I can reset them again. But I dont know what they are, so I may have problems down the line not realizing that the settings have to be reset.
Any other suggestions..

You could also try deleting this registry key (back it up first in cas eyou need it back).
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software
or HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software
