I am using Microsoft Office 2007 on a Windows XP Professional PC. Word is giving me an error when I try to close any .doc file. It does not give the error if the file is .docx - The error is, " Microsoft Office Word has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience. I get the option to "Check" a box to, "Recover my work and restart Microsoft Office Word.
Any ideas??

As there may be a addons causing this problem u can disable the addons and then try it again

Make sure you have enough memory and are far enough along with Windows Updates. You should make sure you are at SP3 (ensure drivers up to date first) and all updates are complete. You should have at least 1Gb of memory, preferably 2 Gb.
Then try Office Diagnostics and see if that finds anything. Word Options -> Resources.
Then, if no joy, check thoroughly for spyware, viruses and other malware.
