RemoveFooter code does not remove Inlineshapes in footer

The attached code doesn't remove the inline shapes inserted in the footer
When in the footer if I press CTRL-A and then Delete the inline shape disappears
Whats the best code to do this process

I have tried variations of ap.Selection.Delete unit:= Sentence, 1
SHort of doing a sendkeys !! which is messy whats the answer

ap.ActiveWindow.ActivePane.View.SeekView = wdSeekCurrentPageFooter
    ap.Selection.HeaderFooter.LinkToPrevious = False
    ap.WordBasic.RemoveFooter

This will remove the contents of all the footers in the document:

Only need to do this on the section I am on - The docs are variable so never know when to do this?
is there a ap.section.number? or something we can use

This will get the 1st section of your selected Header - try it and let me know
