Check out Method 2. I ran into an issue like this with a Powerpoint file.
Main Topics
Browse All TopicsI have recently come across an issue where users cannot open files created in 1997 in Word 2007, except the Administrator who can open them fine.
The error users get is "You are attempting to open a file that was created in an earlier version of Microsoft Office. This file type is blocked from opening in this version by your registry policy setting."
This problem is on a terminal server running server 2003
I have tried the registry fixes that microsoft recommends but the registry keys it mentions don't actually exist in the registry. I have also tried setting the Block Opening Of Files Before Version in Group Policy to disabled and still no luck.
Any help with this would be greatly appreciated
