Question

HP 4730 Mfp configure

Asked by: syinfra

Hi,
I need to configure scan to Email directly on the printer 4730 mfp i.e sending mail directly from the printer. The printer is directly connected to the Watch Guard firewall and there is no Proxy. The default gateway of the Printer is IP of the Firewall. I need to guide someone at that location how to configure this pyhsically on the printer as the printer is at remote location. Kindly explain in detail each step as how to achieve this.

Hi,
I Have configured as per the Document but it gives error 'SMTP server do not exist'  I assigned the IP of this printer on the laptop and checked that internet was available and the SMTP server was responding.
Again I assigned back the IP to the printer but still the same error.

Regards

You can try using either the name or the IP address of the SMTP server. One of them should work.

Hi,
I have tried with both but still it says no SMTP server found despite having succesfully testing the IP assigned to the printer on a machine from where i could connect to the SMTP server, but the moment it is again assigned to this printer it do not connect to the SMTP server.

What is the IP address of the printer, and what is the address of the SMTP server?

Also, check the name of the SMTP server on a PC. If you check the settings for an email account (in Outlook Express, or whatever mail program you're using) you should see it there.

Does your SMTP server require authentication? If so, make sure you use the correct email address & password for the printer.

Some SMTP servers will only allow email from known addresses. What happens if you try to send an email from a PC, using the printer's address? If that does not work try giving the printer an address that is known to be working from a PC.

Hi,
Yes i am using correct Email address & password, tried successfully sending email from the PC using the printer's IP address but unable to send it via the printer.
