Browse All TopicsIn Word 2003, I can't get rid of the Smart Tags, no matter what I do, when I do a copy and paste, the smart tag clipboard icon appears in the doc, and it doesn't go away until I begin to type someplace else in the doc. Here is what I've tried already:
On the Tools menu, click AutoCorrect Options, and then click the Smart Tags tab.
Clear the Label text with smart tags check box.
When this didn't do it, I did this:
1. Select "Tools" then "AutoCorrect Options".
2. When the "AutoCorrect" multi-tabbed dialog box appears, select the "Smart Tags" tab.
3. Uncheck "Label text with smart tags".
4. Uncheck "Show Smart Tag Action Buttons".
5. Click "OK" to close the dialog box.
6. Select "Tools" then "Options".
7. When the multi-tabbed dialog-box "Options" appears, click the "View" tab.
8. Uncheck "Smart tags".
9. Press "OK" to close the dialog box.
When this didn't get rid of them, I went into the Tools menu, choose AutoCorrect Options, Smart Tags tab, Save Options, and unchecked Embed Smart tags.
When that didn't work, I went into Edit, Office Clipboard, Options button, and unchecked Show Office Clipboard Automatically and everything else in that menu except Show clipboard when Ctrl+C pressed twice.
Still didn't work.

Did you get rid of them at Tools, Options, Save, "Embed Smart Tags"?
