I moved to Word 2007. In 2003 it would alert me on my spelling errors, but in 2007 it is not doing this. Is there a place I must turn this feature one?

IF you are referring to the spell as you go feature (red underlined words, for words spelled incorrectly). Yes, there is a place you can go to enable and disable it.
In Word 2003:
TOOLS -- OPTIONS -- Spelling & Grammar Tab --> Click the box for: "Check Spelling as you go".
In Word 2007:
Office Button -- Word Options -- Proofing --> Click the box for: "Check spelling as you type"

Try going to the registry and making a change there, but before you modify the registry you need to make sure you back it up first just in case....here are the instructions for how to do that:

Once the registry is backed up you need to click Start - Run and type in regedit. Once the registry opens navigate to this key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software
Add the word "old" to the end of 1.0 so it looks like this 1.0old
After that reboot your computer, open Word, and test to see if spellcheck works.

Try opening Word in safemode and see if spellcheck works. You can do this by holding down the Ctrl key while clicking on the Word icon. DO NOT release the Ctrl key until you have selected "Yes" you want to open Word in safemode.
Once it opens it should say Microsoft Word (safe mode) at the top. Then click on the Office button and select new. Misspell something and see if it works. If it does then you will need to troubleshoot your add-ins.

then go to proofing
