How to repeat rows rows at every page in Word 2010 accurately

In Word 2010 I want to repeat the first row at every page being the heading of a table. I right click & go to Table properties and click on Repeat as header row at the top of each page. However when I do that two more rows in addition to the first row are also repeated on the next page. How to repeat only the first row?
This mistake may be happening because I copied the first row heading from an another word Document. This error did not happen in that word document I was able to repeat the first row heading on every page. I am using Windows Seven.

It should be that the selected rows at the top of the table are repeated. If you only want one row repeated, make sure that only the first row is selected when the Repeat Header Rows is clicked on.

Only one row is selected in my view but the two rows beneath it also are repeated
This error comes when I copy the top row of a table into a new word document not otherwise. So I thought I just may as well ask
I can't make it do anything unexpected (in Word 2007).

If is is a big problem, you could try these Word troubleshooting steps.

Can you post the document in question?
I am attaching two Word Documents. Actually I was trying to digitize the list of actors and actresses into my computer from my note book. Nothing private about the documents. I just copied the first row the header row of the table of Western Actresses into a new blank document Western Actors. That worked fine but when I try to repeat the first row header at every page in Western Actors the two rows underneath it also are repeated. See if you can correct the mistake at your end.
Thiis has happened to me the second time in Word 2010. Of course there is a short cut. Make a new Word Document and manually insert or type the first row and then copy the rest of the rows but that is not actually solving the problem I want to know what is the fault. Since you are an expert your comments will be invaluable.

Interesting. It does happen with your document in Word 2007.

However the symptom disappears with another two clicks of the button,
Which button requires 2 clicks please
The 'Repeat Header Rows' button:

1st click sets the (two) header rows (bug)
2nd click removes the setting
3rd click sets the single header row as required
The first click puts an asterik[tick] in the box Repeat as header row at the top of each page
The 2nd click removes the asdterik in the box Repeat as header row at the top of each page
The 3rd click puts an asterik in the box Repeat as header row at thew top of each page.
I tried it like this but it did not work for me.  What does the tick in the box  'Allow row to break across pages' mean.
There may be a flaw in the Microsoft Word 2010 who knows they are constantly upgrading their softwares now and then.
To cut the matters short you may post the document with the required single header  as an attachment so I can work on it later on.
Experts do you not agree that there are serious bugs in Microsoft Word 2010 the above example testifies to it

Stefan Blom MVP of Microsoft Social technet ultimately suggested a solution : Convert the table into text and then convert back the text  into a table. Then the repeat Header row of the first row worked faultlessly without the addition of two superfluos rows. You have contributed in trying to find a solution for me  thankyou
It seems that you have a corrupt document. It did, in fact, act in the same way in my Word 2003 setup.

However, if you cannot reproduce a similar document at will, I think that we should treat it as a corrupt document.

This is not an uncommon situation. Word documents are very complex, so any unexpected termination of the Word application can leave the document in an inconsistent state
