DO you have the latest OO version ?
The fact that it does open on another machine means either you have broken permissions or issues with the OS version, or even the OO install.
I hope this helps !

Browse All TopicsI have an .xls file that I am attempting to open in OpenOffice. When I open it, I either get a 'General Error' or a 'File Input/Output' error. Normally I would just chalk this one up to M$ creating broken files, but I tested this same file on another friend's gentoo box (I am also using gentoo) with the same version of OO and it opened fine. I am miffed why this is happening. The friend's USE flags are very similar to mine. I can get them and post them if that would be helpful.
Here is the file: http://www.bestsharing.com
Let me know if you have some better place to put it.
Thanks in advance.
