I need to create a PDF template. Basically it is just a form, with placeholders for information that will be added at a later time by an automated process. Can someone please tell me if
A) I can create these templates in OpenOffice (im on linux and Acrobat doesnt exist for linux)
B) If I can create a PDF template in OpenOffice, can someone point me to a tutorial on how to do so?
Worth 500 points.
Thanks,
Rick

oh... no thats not what I need. I need to be able to create a PDF template, so that when a user opens the template in Adobe Reader or equivalent, they can make changes to fields within the template, and save / print the template. Like an application form. I was curious if there was a way to create that type of PDF from OpenOffice, without having to track down a windows machine running acrobat.
Thanks,
Rick
rindi,
actually yes you can do it with pdf files, I just accomplished it. To do this required adobe acrobat as far as I can tell.. basically I create the pdf in open office, take it to a windows machine, open acrobat, use the pdf as a base form, and place the required form fields into it. Save, and VOILA! I know have a PDF Form, which is completely portable.
Thanks for the help.

You can use a normal document template, and then export the File as a PDF. You can't edit PDF files with openoffice, export to pdf is your only option there.
