Wordperfect will not open hyperlinks to pdf

I have a WordPerfect document that we created with hyperlinks referencing pdf documents. One user with the same version (OfficeX3) tries to access the links nothing happens. It notices that there is a link but does not open the pdf document.  All users have Adobe 8 Standard and WordPerfect X3 on a XP machine.
