Having a tough time trying to figure out how to do this in crystal reports. MTBF is the average time that a component works w/out failure. Basically I have a column, let's call it fail_date. I need to count the days since the first failure and the last failure for a piece of equipment, then divide it by the number of failures(records/rows) during that time period.
Take the following sample data for example:
EQ_NUM FAIL_DATE
1 1-Jan-2005
1 15-Jan-2005
1 1-Feb-2005
2 14-Jan-2005
...
1-Feb-2005 - 1-Jan-2005 = 31 days / 3 failures = 10.33
If anyone could please help me with this, I'd be most appreciative. I have been trying to figure this out for some time now.

Thank you for your reply. I know very little Crystal Reports, so what seemed difficult at first, turned out to be surprisingly simple. I was even looking at running an Oracle stored procedure through CR.
Anyway, I was finally able to get it to work as follows:
(Maximum ({WORKORDER.reportdate}) - Minimum ({WORKORDER.reportdate})) / Count({WORKORDER.reportdat

This way you convert the dates into Julian dates, then you can perform MTBF calculation on the resultant integer.
