Question

Convert to Adobe PDF button missing in Word 2000

Asked by: chuck53

The "Convert to Adobe PDF button" button and the other two Adobe buttons are missing on the Word toolbar.  They are present in Excel.  When right clicking to get the drop down menu where you can check "Standard", "Formating" etc. for what shows on the toolbar (with "Customize") at the bottom, there is no choice for this or in the "Customize" toolbar for any "PDFMaker6.0".  Normally on a properly working system, the drop down menu lets you check or uncheck the "PDFMaker6.0" item for it to show up on the Word toolbar.  This installs when Acrobat 6 is installs and is the default (checked).  There is also room for these icons on the toolbar.  Note: again these do show up in Excel and Acrobat 6 seems to work normally.

turn123,
thx. for the reminder.

I already had fixed the problem, then got from nedvis.  Providing four links (vs. one or two which specifically provides the solution) in not in the spirit of EE unless I have missed something over the years.

The solution I found was to simply launch Acrobat, click Help, then Detect and Repair.  This put the icons back in Word's toolbar.

I did not feel like going through the links above to see if this possibly was mentioned.  If it was clearly then all the points can go to nedvis for the solution.  You make the call turn123.

Best regards,
chuck53 :})

chuck53,
the link http://www.pdfzone.com/article2/0,1895,1834394,00.asp explicitly says in its  last paragraph:
"If these solutions don't work, you can try running Acrobat's Detect and Repair feature, which allows you choose optional components, such as PDFMaker, and run a repair routine. To run Detect and Repair, make sure all other applications are closed and then in Acrobat choose Help > Detect and Repair. Make sure PDFMaker is selected and then click Continue. You may need to restart your computer afterward."

And how come four links and resources are less worthy than one or two links. Strange logic !
chuck53,
I dont really trust your answer.

turn 123,
I dont want you to eventually arbitrary award points to my answer.

thank you
nedvis
