Look for Help Desk or IT Tracking Software

I work in a business with around 30 employees. I'm the IT department. I'm looking for some type of software to allow me to track IT issues and solutions. Nothing fancy just the basics.

It would be nice if this could be web based so I could have my employees submit trouble tickets via our Intranet.

And if they call I can just manually add it in.

It would also be nice if it could be something that has a knowledge base so i can create a list of FAQ.

I'll admit I'm not the most organized person so it'd be nice to have something I could check off.

A lot of times I'll get what I call tiny requests while I'm in the middle of something major and I end up forgetting about those requests.

This would help that.

I would prefer free but decently priced would also be ok.

It looks pretty good. I have a web server to install it on.

Am I able to customize it at all.

Such as take away fields etc such as the Asset field.

I need this to be pretty user friendly.
The program if fully customizable.  As well, I have an Access version you are welcome to test if you want.  But it is not web accessible.  But with a little work, you could make a web interface to interact with the Access database.

So the free edition is web based. Do  I need clients on each system. Otherwise how does it do all the monitoring.

All I really need is something to track support issues and a knowledge base.

I have software installed already that does the rest like inventory my network etc via agents.

Was hoping to find something that would just sit on a server with a database etc.
Is a web interface required, or would a simple Access database with graphical forms do the trick?

Does the access database have the ability for users to submit requests themselves or is only for my tracking?
As long as they have write access to the file, then they can submit helpdesk requests.  You can lock down edit access to the table layouts, or hide the tables, and only give access to the form page to them if you dont want them to have access to that.

I am attaching a simple file to demonstrate.  It is zipped, when you open the zip rename the file extension on helpdesk.txt to helpdesk.accdb
