Looking for software

I'm interested in finding a very good software program that does the following:  Trouble Tickets (currently using Ready Desk), Project Tracking and Lan Inventory for customer sites that I can run weekly and will generate available hard disk space on File Servers etc.  Would also like it to run an inventory of the PC's on the network if possible.

In a perfect world, I'm looking for something that does all of these, but would also entertain solo programs that do a good job.

Thanks,

If this is for internal use (I.e not multiple clients) you will find that Spiceworks (Spiceworks.com fits your bill exactly.

It also has the added bonus of being free.

BMC's Remedy can be configured to do all of this.

I would highly recommend however creating an in-house product to minimize support costs... as a programmer this is NOT a difficult piece of software that you need and it could be easily be made using PHP and MySQL, 100% of the functionality you mention.  An app like this would be web based and would make it easier for your IT staff to access the software on a number of devices such as ipads, their desktops, or even user systems.

It gives you far more flexibility to change things in the future and 1 guy can do this part time and administrate the whole system no problem, just make sure they maintain good backups and test all changes before implementing them into production. In my experience, these systems are often more scalable and perform much better than large, bloated, commercial applications.
Spiceworks is the best and its free
You can also try SysAid

ASKER

It is for external clients
Thats the beauty of the in house app
You can do whatever you want even make it external facing or certain pages available to external clients. Depending on the complexity of what you need i can make myself available and save you potentially a ton of licensing fees and support costs
Looking at a two system process checkout Shockey Monkey for the logging (it's free) and Centrastage to cover everything else.

They will soon be linked together allowing ease of data sharing.
Depending on the number of clients you have to monitor an in-house solution like Zenoss, Nagios or Open NMS will work. Another solution would be Op Manager from the same people who brought you ZoHo.  However, if you're looking at keeping it light I would have to say Spiceworks or Managed Engine's Op Manager.

For what it's worth have you ever looked into Kaseya. It does everything except Project management. i use it,
I've heard of Kaseya.  We were fairly close to purchasing LanSweeper but it appears to be cost prohibitive ($1500.00yr).

We've purchased Ready Desk for our Trouble Ticketing software and, so far, are pleased with it.

Now I just need to find a LAN Inventory program that is inexpensive and can be run weekly at our client sites.  One of my techs just loves spiceworks but I'm always leary of free software, especially from a Support standpoint.
