I echo robwrx..dont know of a way to have interactive Gantt in excel. You can send the data out and then copy the Gantt part using the screen picture button (camera on right end of toolbar). This essentially takes a picture of the GAntt and then you can paste it into Excel. But it would not be interactive at all.

Open up the Gantt chart in Project. Click File -> Save As. Where it says 'Save as type' change from 'Project (*.mpp)' to 'Microsoft Excel Workbook (*.xls).'
From there it will open up an Export Wizard. On the first screen click next and this will bring you to the 'Export Wizard - Data' screen. Select 'Project Excel Template' then click Finish.
