Entering Resource Names - error using comma

Hello -
I am trying to set up a project in Project 2002. I have a list of employees that need to be entered as Resources. I am trying to add them in the format of 'LastName, FirstName'. I am getting a error on the comma. I would rather not enter the resource as 'FirstName LastName' as this list could potentially grow quite large.
Is there some way I can make this happen, or some alternate approach that will allow me to view and manage the resources by Last Name?
Any help would would be greatly appreciated.
