Roaming Profiles and Outlook

Tags: roaming, profile, outlook
Ok, I am attempting to setup roaming profiles for my office.  I have about 50 + users and about 40 of them are constantly changing their location throughout the office and therefore it is a nightmare without roaming profiles.  So, I am currently testing the setup and what i would like to accomplish is to have all of their settings (printers, map drives, documents, email, etc) follow them from pc to pc.  I created a test user and have 2 PCs to log into.  On 1 PC I setup the profile and set it to roaming, then on the other PC i login with that user and all the settings are copied over.  However, outlook still does not work and there is no profile created for the user i logged in with.  If this doesn't work then the roaming profiles are useless to me.  I have ready every Outlook / roaming profile post on this site as well as google.  I cant seem to figure out why those settings aren't following the user.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Also i am using Windows Server 2003, Exchange 2003 SP2, Windows XP, and Office XP.

thanks,

The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

While it is true that with Outlook 2003 profiles cannot be automatically SET UP for domain users, they do follow the user around because they are saved in the application data folder. We have been using this for a year now with lots of users and workstations.
