Yes, I know that Microsoft doesn't support PST files on a networked drive, but that isn't the point of this question. I've had networked PST files for nearly 10 years in my environment. This last weekend, I inserted 2 new Dell PowerEdge 2900 servers to replace two PE2500 units. As part of this process, I redesigned my network slightly. As these new servers were built with very large storage capacities, I was able to consolidate the data on 3 servers down to 2. One of the server contains all the user PROFILE folders for roaming profiles (Terminal Server) and all the user HOME directories. Within the HOME directories are the outlook.pst files. I have 400+ users. Since the work done this weekend, all users are sporatically having difficulties accessing their Personal Folders. The clients are Outlook 2007, while the vast majority of the PST files are in 2000 format. Of course, this is how it has been for the last year, so that's not the issue. For no apparent reason, users will get an error that the H:\WINDOWS\OUTLOOK.PST file is unabled to be accessed. 5-10 minutes later, without doing anything, perhaps, they can open it. Then, while the Personal Folders finally opens, some of the sub-folders may not open. It's terribly random. What could possible be wrong with my Windows Server 2003 Standard R2 machine? There are no errors on the server or client. Occasionally, I'll get errors stating that the server has run out of space (although it has 300GB available. It acts like there is a network permissions or connectivity issue, but it only seems to be affecting PST files. Any ideas?
Thanks,
Jer
