Solution 4: Use the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility (stand-alone installations of the previous version only).
When a previous version of Acrobat or Adobe Reader was installed onto the computer as a Point Product (not part of a suite); use the Microsoft Windows Installer CleanUp Utility to remove it.
1. Download the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility from the Microsoft Support webpage at http://support.microsoft.c
2.
Run the executable to install the software.
Note: On Windows Vista you might need to right-click on the downloaded installer and choose the option to "Run As Administrator".
3. Choose Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up.
4. Highlight any previous versions of Acrobat and Adobe Reader, including patches, and click Remove.
5. Once all versions of Acrobat and Adobe Reader have been removed, Click OK and then exit the software.
6. You should now be able to install Acrobat or Adobe Reader successfully.
But first you may wanna try an easy solution:
Unregister Windows Installer, and then reregister Windows Installer. To do this, follow these steps:
1. On the "Start" menu, click "Run:.
2. In the "Open" box, type "msiexec /unreg", and then press ENTER.
3. On the "Start" menu, click "Run".
4. In the "Open" box, type "msiexec /regserver", and then press ENTER.
I tried unreg and regserver. but that did not help. Also I foprgot to mention rthat I have Wndows XP prof sp3. With windows install clean up, we can choose individual program? I hope it does not run om its own to clean up other programs. I have upgrade the Acrobat 6.0 to 7.0 and I have to first locate where i have put my 6.0. If I can't find 6.0 then obvious I will be out of Acrobat and would have to purchase new $$$$. What else can I try?
