excel 2010 issue on windows 7
I have 3 users who work on an excel file in a shared drive. They recently got upgraded to windows 7 and since they are having problems saving the changes in excel file.
They get the following message when saving the changes.
Your changes could not be saved to 'xxxxx.xlsx' because of a sharing violation. Try saving to a different file.

I have recently solved this issue by disabling the offline availability. It was caused by a sync issue and that solved it quickly and cleanly.
You're getting that error because two people are accessing and modifying the same file at the same time. Excel files can only be opened and edited by one person at a time. If users edit an offline copy of the file at the same time and one or the other has saved a different version to the storage location, you'll get this error.

thanks for the suggestions.
if you mean offline files in windows. it is already disabled by group policy.
The file is accessed only by one person at a time and she still can't save changes to the file and gets the above message.

Hi ahmshaki
We have this issue with a couple of our users and I wanted to know what settings you changed as per your above solution?
