A customer of mine just sent me an Excel spreadsheet they have been using for a couple of years. They need to change some calculations in various cell formulas. Big problem: the worksheet is protected and the original developer is recently deceased! The fellow took the password to the grave with him. Mighty inconsiderate to say the least. Is there any way to unprotect this spreadsheet without knowing the password? This spreadsheet is very critical to this customer's business and the alternative would be reverse engineering and redeveloping the formulas. Any solution is worth exploring including 3rd party services or binary examination of the xls file, etc.
