Excel file opens to blank screen

I have a user who has been working in an Excel 2007 file. It has data in it. Then one time when he trys op open the file it opens to a blank background screen, no cells and just the menu bar and no errors when opening the file....even if he opened it an hour before and it was fine. The file still holds data since I can recover it with an Excel recovery program, but this issue keeps happening to his excel files at random times. This is a brand new computer with a factory installed copy of Office 2007, but this issue also happened on his old computer too.
I have tried to excel.exe /unregserver and then  /regserver with no luck&any ideas?
