The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Reference another sheet in same workbook, using cell value in formula and to include text from cell in COUNTIF

Asked by seriousnick in Microsoft Excel Spreadsheet Software

Hi Experts

I am using a COUNTIF formula on a summary sheet, to look in another sheet and count the number of matches to a criteria.
What I was hoping for is rather than adding in the sheet's name, is to pull it from a cell value and also to add in the serach string from a cell on the summary sheet.

e.g.:  =COUNTIF('COM 3'!$C:$C,"A Text String*")

where the text "COM 3" is located in cell B2 (and is also the sheet name) and
where "A Text String" is located on cell A3 of the summary sheet.

I have a row of these COM's in row 2 so what i was looking for is something like in B3:

=COUNTIF('Ref to cell $B$2'!$C:$C,"(Text in cell A3)*") so I can autofill along the rows.

I will then add different search strings on subsequent rows.

I have attached a much chopped down example.
Each COM sheet has about 20,000 rows in the original.
I will be needing about 40 search strings - so I just want to add them all in column A.

Many thanks
