Excel VBA Dynamic File Name Reference

Asked by aouano in Microsoft Excel Spreadsheet Software

Tags: , ,

Hi everyone,

My question is about how to create a macro to enter in the reference formulas for about 900+ files that have different file names but are all located in the same folder. Furthermore, the files have the same template, and I will be extracting the same fields from all the files.

Ideally, I would like to have the data arranged in the following fashion:

Col A = Filename
Col B = Value1 from Filename $A$1
Col C = Value2 from Filename $B$2

I was thinking a looping function to cycle through all the filenames and enter in the respective formulas...any help would be fantastic. Thanks!Start Free Trial
