The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Running VBA code in diferent file from excel

Asked by cedop in Microsoft Excel Spreadsheet Software

Tags: , ,

Hi, this is pretty unusual in that I dont have access to all the code.
I have about 20 excel files. In each file there is a macro that needs to be run. what I have to do is:
open file1, run the macro, save file1 close file1
open file2, run the macro, save file2, close file2
etc...

not all the files are excel, there are a few access files also, but all the files involve just opening, runnng macro, and closing.

My problem is that they can take upto 30 minutes to run any one of the macro's. what I want to do is have an excel workbook, run one script from this master workbook, which runs all the 20 macros in the individual files.

I have a few issues in doing this and here is the question:

with all the macro's in the files, at the end of running the macro, a message box pops up saying that running the macro was successful and you need to press OK to dismiss it.
Is it possible to do this from a macro - that is dismiss the message box.

secondly, there are some instances where the maco fails - in this case, I can just catch the error, so that may not be so much of a problem, however, my main concern at this point is dismissing the dialog box or message box.

the other problem is that I dont have access to the code in most of the workbooks or access files - only to the code that I am writing.Start Free Trial
