The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

SUMPRODUCT: Create an additional Array to only count values that appear in specified series

Asked by keithkurze in Microsoft Excel Spreadsheet Software

I'm trying to modify an existing SUMPRODUCT formula that runs comparisons across multiple columns in one array (Array1) so that it will only count values that also appear in a seperate array (Array2)

The SUMPRODUCT formula provided below currently returns a value of "3".  Rows 3, 7, and 9 all meet the defined criteria.

However, I'd like to modify the formula so that the Row number also has to appear in a second array (Array2) to be counted.  In this example, because Row 9 does not appear in Array2, it should not be counted, and the formula should return a value of "2".

The existing data and formula is below.  I've also attached the sample excel file to this post:

Array1                        Array2
Row      Priority      Ranking            3
1      1      Low            7
2      2      Low            10
3      2      High            30
4      1      Medium            40
5      3      High            50
6      3      Medium            60
7      2      Medium            70
8      2      High            80
9      3      Medium            90
10      2      Low            100

=SUMPRODUCT(--(B3:B12>1),--(B3:B12<3),--(C3:C12<>"Low"))

Thanks for any help!  I really appreciate it!
