Unable to change <body lang=EN-US ...> in HTML messages

I am in the midst of creating some French drafts/templates for HTML messages using Word as my editor. Since I am creating several French drafts/templates, I set the language to French in Word, and clicked on Default to make the default language change to Normal.dot. However, after creating a draft/template, I notice that in the source for the HTML message, near the top there is the line <body lang=EN-US ...> and every new paragraph begins with <span lang=FR>. Even though I have changed the default language for new messages (i.e. body) to French, Word seems to be applying the language change as direct formatting in each paragraph. Is there a way to change <body lang=EN-US ...> to <body lang=FR ...> so that the language property isn't applied to each paragraph?

PS: I am using Word/Outlook 2002.Start Free Trial
