The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

How do I deploy a default font and style for Word 2007 across our company?

Asked by asasupport in Microsoft Word

Hi,

I hope someone can help me!  I'm trying to do what should be a very simple thing:  I'm trying to set a default font and style for our users using Word 2007 across our company.  Our house style dictates that we use Arial 12, fully justified with certain spacing options for paragraphs, etc.  I've tried to get them to convert to Calibri 11, to no avail!

How does one deploy a house style across the company?  It should be easy, no?

I've tried creating a template called House Styles.dotx and placing that in the Startup folder (which is in a network location), but that didn't work.

I then set a group policy which moved the User Templates path from their local computer to a network location which contained a normal.dotm which had our house style applied to it.  That did work, BUT it meant that the NormalEmail.dotm was also moved to this location and that meant that people couldn't create Quick Parts in Outlook, because if more than one person was in Outlook, the NormalEmail.dotm was locked for editing.

I'm aware that we could create a normal.dotm template with the house style and use a script to send that out to each of the computers, but we'd rather store the normal.dotm template in a central location, which is what we did with Word 2003.

So...any advice at all?  A gold star to the person who can tell me how to set this up, as I'm really struggling with what should be a simple task!

Thanks all.
