The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Using Logo from Illustrator or Indesign in Outlook Signature
Tags: outlook, signature, logo
Hello,
I think I have done this before..and then, maybe not. I have created a "signature/logo" that I want to import into my Outlook Signature hence maintaining the font / intergrity I have created so that every recipient "sees" the same logo.  Is this possible?
Thank you,
Doreem

Yes and no.  Yes, you can create a signature with a graphic (logo) and send it out.  However, you can't be guaranteed that everyone will "see" it the same or that the font will be the same (unless the entire signature is a graphic).  Different recipients may have different email clients and those clients may not handle graphics, may convert all inbound email to plain-text, etc.  As for the fonts, if you specify a font in your signature and that font doesn't exist on a recipient's computer, then the HTML rendering engine will use a substitute font.

For all the reasons you stated, this is why I want to create the logo and save it as a jpeg(?), then import it into the signatre. I know I have done this in the past.  Its a use it or loose it thing. Of course, in plain text it dd not appear, however I  know the logo did as I still get emails with the logo and signature I created from former associates.  Sigh.

I have done something close to what I want be saving the illustratoir file as SAVE FOR WEB and them, importing it. If you have an  emial address that you use for this type of issue, I will send a msg to you so you can see what I mean.

You might make a screen shot to show us what the email signature looks like and upload it to http://www.ee-stuff.com/ using the url of this question so we can find it.

I have (?) uploaded a "snagged" shot of the signature.  Thanks...............

08.15.2007 at 12:11PM PDT, ID: 19702721
Ok, I see the signature. So, are you asking how to get that image to be stored as your email signature to put in emails you send from Outlook?

What version of Outlook do you use? And, is it Outlook or Outlook express?
Thanks,

DeeDee

08.15.2007 at 12:14PM PDT, ID: 19702745
No, i have done that and it is working. I doubt the method I used is the most efficient and the copy is not the best so I had hoped someone had the "correct" way producing a better result. II just goofed my way around to this result.  have no problem with Outlook (2003) persay, but just how to, what type and etc. format the logo in Ilustrator to PLACE or IMPORT into Outlook.  Is that clear? :)

Ok so possibly you want your signature graphic to look better?

If you used Illustrator to make the signature image, you might try saving it as a Photoshop file, instead of just saving it as a jpg or any other file from Illustrator.  Then open it in Photoshop and you can do things like sharpen it or adjust the colors. THEN save as a .jpg or a .gif or a .png (usually those work for signature graphics).  And if you use File>save for the web> and save as a .gif the image file will be small but still readable.

Do you have specific things you don't like about your signature that you want to improve?

What extension do I use?  I have tired AI and SVG to no avail. and yes, I do have things I want ot improve but not putting the effort in until I know its doable as far as importing into Outlook.

Thanks a bunch!

08.15.2007 at 01:24PM PDT, ID: 19703249
Which version of Outlook do you use?

There are several ways to set up your signature in outlook and add an image or graphic. But you want to create a good graphic first. (which is why i suggested looking at the graphic in Photoshop first)

Outlook 2003. But how do I look at what I have created in Illustrator to Photoshop? JPEG is not an option.
I pretty much have no troubles creating signatures in Outlook with an added image....once I have that "image" in the right format.
Thanks so much,  Doreen

08.15.2007 at 02:44PM PDT, ID: 19703746
to look at a .jpg in illustrator, use File>place and find the image on your computer.

to look at a .jpg in photoshop, you should just be able to use File>open and open the jpg.

DeeDee

08.15.2007 at 02:47PM PDT, ID: 19703769
But if I create it in Illustrator, it is not a jpg so will not show up as such and cannot be copied into Photoshop........no/yes?

08.15.2007 at 02:51PM PDT, ID: 19703788
Right, if you create it in Illustrator, you then have to use File>Export to get either a photoshop, .jpg, .png or .gif (when you use Export, look for the drop down on the bottom of the window where it lets you select a file type)

DeeDee

08.15.2007 at 03:04PM PDT, ID: 19703869
Niether of those is an option. EPS, SVG, PDF, Ai SVGV but no png, gif or jpg.
I do appreciate your time!  Doreen

08.16.2007 at 07:54AM PDT, ID: 19708732
Ok, if you use File>Save you only get those options.  Did you look at File>Export?  Using File>Export as... gives you more choices.

Which version of Illustrator are you using?

08.23.2007 at 01:58PM PDT, ID: 19757735
I am using Illustrator Cs2
I am able to export as jpeg using the File-> Save-> Export. The image, however looks the same. I am off to Europe for 5 weeks this weekend so likley will not get this resolved as I am short on time (and sanity) Can I accept your answer and reward points for the education you have provided, if notthe ned reslut I KNOW I have produced in the past???  I do very much appreciate your help!!!! Doreen

08.23.2007 at 02:34PM PDT, ID: 19757969
Well, I didn't know the Export was under the "Save" option. On Illustrator CS it's under File>Export (not under Save)

So, I might have to look up the direct way for you to save as a Photoshop. When you get back maybe I can get a copy of your Illustrator file to see how to give you better instructions to improve that actual file! (or I could find you a screen shot of the File>Export options in Illustrator to explain them better.

Have a great trip!
I hope we can keep this question opened while you are gone.

I will put a tickle on my calendar for my return.  i am taking my notebook with me and it has illustrator and all of CS2 on it so maybe I can play with it on the dreadfully long flight.  (or not and have a toddy) :) Thank you!
