You can also change the document setup to a 2 page letter spread and just adjust the content. so instead of one tabloid page you would get 2 letter pages. Just a thought. The Tiling feature can be tricky.

Convert InDesign file from Tabloid to Letter
I have an InDesign file that was created as a tabloid layout that would be folded to create a letter sized piece. I need to print this but only have the capability to print letter sized. Is there a way to export this as a PDF and tell it to make 2 letter sized pages from the single tabloid page?
