Oh, one other thing: Some fonts do not permit embedding, although you should get a warning when that's the case.

Browse All TopicsHi,
I have to send either PDFs or Postscipts of a book to my printer for proofs. Every time I do a preflight check in Indesign 2 it says no fonts are embedded. I've tried all kinds of playing around with print presets but I don't really know what to do. Even common fonts like Times New Roman don't register as embedded. I'm racing against deadlines so getting very frustrated. On my old laptop the printer installed settings for Agfa ApogeeX for me to use, and this seems to work, but that was using QuarkXpress. It doesn't work when I use Indesign on the same laptop. Any ideas?

In InDesign, choose File > Export PDF. In the Export to PDF dialog box select Advanced from the options on the left hand side. Set the option "Subset Fonts When Percent Of Characters Used Is Less Than" to 0%. This will prevent InDesign from subsetting the fonts, and should allow the full font to be embedded. Also, in the Export to PDF dialog box, select General from the options on the left hand side and make sure the options for eBook Tag or Create Tagged PDF are not selected.
You may want to take a look at which preset from the Adobe PDF Preset menu you are using, if any, and any custom options that may be set for that preset.
