I would make sure you do software updates; From the Help menu is the Check for Updates command;
If you do updates, restart the computer before testing it;
If you do not need updates I'd try resetting the prefs files next by holding Ctrl+Alt+Shift on startup until you get the Delete Prefs dialog, to which you want to click Yes;
If that doesn't work the next step is to create a different user account and see if that crashes.
