Quark files will not print in InDesign

i am not a quark or indesign expert by any means. i am trying to fix this problem for a client. quark files will not print in indesign (even if saved as a .indd file). new indesign files print fine however. this is on a mac (10.5). they will not print to any printers. the print job spools to 100% and leaves the print queue, but doesn't print.

What version of QuarkXPress are we talking about, what version of InDesign, how did you convert?

sorry, the version of indesign was in the tags above: cs3 5.0
quarkexpress is 5.0
for converting, i simply opend the .qxd file in indesign, then saved as .indd.

Hi, initialit,

since you can import QuarkXPress 5 documents in InDesign, which InDesign cannot do by itself (only v4 and lower), you must use a plug-in or other 3rd party tool.

Here I cannot help you, as I have never tried such a plug-in myself.

or you can save down in Quark 5 to 4 and open in InDesign. What's confusing is that the Quark 5 files open fine in InDesign, they just won't print.

turns out that all the quark files were created in version 4, so the above is a moot point. they open fine in indesign, but they will not print out.
