Recently working in Photoshop CS3 I experienced an error where upon attempting to save my work, the program froze, and I was forced to forcibly end the program and lose my work. Since then, any time I choose "Save" or "Save As..." from the menu in Photoshop, Illustrator, or InDesign (there may be others that I have not tried yet), I experience the same result: A dialog window resembling the save window appears for a split second and disappears (too briefly to make out any information), and the program becomes completely unresponsive. I have since reinstalled every Creative Suite element to no avail. Working from the full Master Collection, installed on Windows XP Service Pack 2.
Is your computer good enough to handle photoshop? Try making a 1x1 pixel file and save that, the resources for that should be very low.
Not sure if there is a setting somewhere that tells it where to default save it but maybe there is a problem on your hard drive at that folder, just a thought.
