I just opened it - looks fine to me. 2 pages.
Could it be that they are not viewing the document in print layout view?

by: ngaymerjonesPosted on 2007-05-04 at 15:37:56ID: 19034446

They were viewing it in print view and it looked jacked on their screen. I tried it on this other ladies pc and the same thing happened.. its weird..

by: GrahamSkanPosted on 2007-05-04 at 15:56:45ID: 19034493

The document contains a table which takes two pages.

The table has up to two columns. The left-hand column is about 2 cm wide and has several cells more than the right-hand, wider (20 cm) column. The whole table is wider than the page so that the table's right-hand border is not visible. There is a row at the bottom about .5cm in height. It has only one cell and is not quite as wide as the rest of the table.

In the right-hand column is another table, i.e. it is nested inside the first table. It is mostly one column wide though not exclusively so. There are some rows with 2 cells and one with four. In many of the cells there are form fields. In a couple of places there is a further level of nesting with tables containing form field checkboxes. Towards the bottom some of the cells seem to be expecting input, in that they have 'Name' and 'Date' labels, but there are no form fields to accept the data.

There are also some text boxes. One of these also seems to be set up for input as well.

Although the table takes two pages, there is a blank page afterwards.

Does this describe what you see or what 'someone else' sees?

What does 'jacked' mean?

Opens up as two for me.

Could you alter the document for me? My email is ngaymerjones@jennycraig.com I am confused by your instructions. Jacked is slang for messed up. I have increated the points for your help/

Sorry jacking (up) is what I do to my car when I have a flat tyre. I thought it might mean that some part of the document was moved upward.

I was describing what I saw, so I haven't given any instructions, except to ask if this was what you have on your system, or if it was the aberrant view that one or more of your colleagues gets. Actually, I now see only two pages. I have captured the image here:
http://www.ee-stuff.com/Expert/Upload/viewFilesQuestion.php?qid=22553920

If that is what you get as well, could you show us what is happening to your user(s)?

With your request, there are a few problems here.

1. Do not put your email address in clear in a comment. It invites bots so you are likely to get spam. Put it in your profile. In fact you will notice that those of us who do have it in their profile have disguised it a bit.
2. As you see, there is an associated site www.ee-stuff.com that can be used for file uploading and downloading.
3. We don't yet know what is to be done with the document.
4. The idea of this site is to give advice visible to all.

I get two pages, too.

The table is a quite a mess. The problem may have it's origin in the fact that parts of the table go beyond page margins and even page borders. Try to correct this. If this doesn't work, try to simplify its structure (described by GrahamSkan above).
1. First, make sure the table gridlines are displayed: "Table" -> "Show gridlines". For some actions mentioned below, you may need to switch to Normal View instead of Print Layout View in order to see the parts of the table that go beyond the page boders.
2. Delete the table at the left, just put the text boxes in the white space, perhaps lower the left margin ("File" -> "Page setup"
3. Eliminate all obsolete rows, colums and cells
4. Make the table width fit on the page (it currently doesn't), or even better, on the page margins (adjust the margins in necessary)

You may also want to get rid of the table as such and use normal text. To account for people who fill in loads of text, you may want to put the anchor of the text boxes at the left to the appropriate text in the text form fields.

Hi there,

I have posted a screenshot here of what happens to the user when they open up the word document from their computer.http://www.sopacreative.com/screenshot.jpg Can you help me fix this problem so it wont happen on the users machine?

by: GrahamSkanPosted on 2007-05-07 at 14:40:45ID: 19046192

So, it overflows and creates a blank page. That did happen to me when I typed something in. This is because what you have only just fits on to two pages. It is not uncommon, especially after tables.

A quick fix, in this case might be to select the last row of the table and to delete it. It is part of the outer table and is blank, so it doesn't seem to be doing anything.

I tried to fix the document for you. How does this look?
