I need to format Word Docs for SEC filings and Edgarization into InDesign CS3. What is the best way to accomplish this?

Recieve Word Docs, need to format into InDesign maintaining style and page breaks. Word Docs are used for Edgar reporting. What is the best/most automated way to acheive this. I have found services on the internet that do this. What does this take to bring in-house?
