Unable to install

I just put this workstation online, complete new install of all software.  But when I attempt to install pagemaker 7 you see that the program begins to respond then just stops running.  When I look at the proccesses running with the taskmanager I can see the setup.exe is there but using now resources.  I called adobe and asked about this, and was told to copy the files to the HD and try there, well I have already done that with the same responce.  I also had installed photoshop cs3 on the system so I figured that might have something to do with it.  So I uninstalled psCS3 and rebooted and attemped to install from the cd and the HD and nothing changed.  I am at a loss, I have used this install cd for the old computer and I know that it works.  The OS is windows xp pro service pack 2.  I have also installed Mc Afee Virus scan 8.5i Enterprise and Office 2007  I have disabled the virus scan when attempting to install.  So there it is, HELP....
