I am using a Mac Pro Dual Core Intel with 3 GB of Ram. I am having a very difficult time browsing through network directories. I click on a folder and it takes around 20 seconds to load the directory up. It is even worst when trying to open something up in Quark. Browsing takes much too long. It is much faster on all of our Windows machines and Mac Tiger machines. Even since we bought new Mac's with Leopard we have had problems with Windows file servers. I should also note that I have another question opened about a related issue where network folders are disappearing or not accessible, this happens off and on and might be related.
One thing that I tried in Finder was to uncheck "show icon preview" in the view menu under "show view items." This helped speed up the process a bit, I just can't figure out how to change that setting for file-open in Quark.
