The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Select File Acad 2000i on XP

Hope everyone finds this day on their list of good days!

My users have a problem that seems simple but I for the life of me I can't fix. On the win 98 stations the users were able to pick File->Open-> and a nice and neet little dialog box would pop up with .. and here it is ... a list of files. The user would either select the file or pick Views->List (on the active dialog box) and a list of the drawings would appear instead of the preview. Once this view was picked it carried over from session to session and from open drawing to open drawing. On XP it is in the view mode every time the open dialog box is open. I have traced this to a registry key. I have determined that this key gets reset each and every time the select file dialog box appears.

I could write a vba macro to run on each drawing that gets opened. But to me that is a work around. Something else that can break :).

The user profile is  <<Unnamed Profile>> so far that is about the only thing that is the same on all PC's.

The Question:
What do I do/look for to allow the list of files to be either the default or to allow the user to select the view they would like to see and it carries over until they change it?
