Convert a CAD drawing!

I have some "parts location" drawings that I did in AutoCAD LT 98.

Is there a good application that I can use to convert these drawings to a generic image type like bmp, jpeg, tif, .......?
I have tried saving as bmp but the drawings look like cr@p. The images & text just don't show correctly.

I've looked around a little bit & can't find anything.
I guess it might be possible to convert them within a full-blown version of A_CAD but that's not an option.
We don't use CAD enough to justify the expense.

I need for others (as well as me) to be able to access & print these drawings without having to use AutoCAD.

Any ideas?
